About Me

Hi all! My name is Divya Patel and I am a Fashion Designer residing in the DFW Metroplex. My design career began to blossom in 2016, while chasing after my mistaken dreams of being a nurse. After a semester of nursing school and a lot of introspect, I realized there was no better time than the present to follow my heart.
The road after was a bit longer but who was counting the months as I was given another opportunity to pursue my beloved hobby as a career. From the chaos came DP Designs and the rest is history!
DP Designs was created to help women feel powerful and confident in their own body, all while embracing the South Asian Indian culture. I strive to create, design, and produce clothing that, not only incorporates my own personality, but is also uniquely designed and personalized to mold one’s style.

What the Press Says
DP Designs have ample amount of articles from the press as well as fashion shows. Read more below to see what you've been missing!
Duende Magazine Publication 2019
In late January of 2019, I reached out to local photographer and editor of Duende Magazine, Veronica Clark, as photographer for the 2019 LSU Fashion Show.
I received a 6-page spread in the magazine, which includes photographs from the runway show and sketches from my design process.
The feature also includes questions and answers from an interview with Veronica.

New Orleans Canal Place Style Board Competition 2018
New Orleans Canal Place Style Board is a student association board that functions to help guide and educate students to a successful future in the fashion industry. Mentors will collaborate with local influential people such as, fashion designers, bloggers, actors/actresses, etc., to host monthly seminars for the board members. These seminars educated students on producing an effective social media presence and networking within the fashion industry.
A semester project was assigned, which involved using recycled materials to create a garment representing an assigned decade of New Orleans Fashion. While my decade was 1718-1729, I utilized a camping tent to create my piece. I constructed a corset, the fabric was produced as a digital textile print of shattered glass, which I designed myself. Spec sheets, cost sheets, pattern cards, callout sheets, and procedure sheets were all made for this corset (shown at the end of the article).
The competition was held at the end of the semester, as there were selected judges to choose the award winners. I was the award winner for Most Creative and Best Use of Materials.

Modern Grace Magazine 2018
April of 2018, owner/publisher/write of local magazine, Modern Grace Magazine reached out to me to schedule a photoshoot of two piece that was shown in the LSU Fashion Show.
